Our story begins with one woman’s prayer for her household to be saved. Rosa Menjivar decided long ago to dedicate all her children to the Lord in the same way Hannah gave Samuel to the Lord. Eventually, all of her children yielded to God’s calling over them including Tony Menjivar.
In 2002, Tony started a small bible study in the excelsior district of San Francisco with his mother Rosa, sister Sonia, sister in-law Esther and daughter Raquel.
In 2005 the Bible study moved from the excelsior district to Sonia’s house in South San Francisco and grew in size. In the same year, Tony was ordained as pastor under Love International Outreach fellowship of Ventura.
Not too long after the ordination, with the help of—now Elder—Victor Castro, we moved from a house to a building. We began having Sunday services on the bottom floor of Jerry’s Tattoo in the mission district of SF. It was here we started a food ministry that lasted until the end of 2019 under the care of the Hilt family.
In the same time frame, Pastor Tony’s brother, John Menjivar—also a pastor—connected us to a Lutheran church in South San Francisco so we could have a midweek service in their
building. It was here we began having outreaches including hip-hop worship concerts, trunk or treats and other holiday festivities.
Our time at Jerry’s Tattoo ended after they closed their mission district location. Fortunately, we were able to continue staying in the same community by renting the ground floor multi-use room from the—aptly named—Good Samaritan Family Resource Center.
In 2019, the Lord led Pastor Tony's wife (Amber) to a real estate listing which gave us an opportunity we could not pass up. An above ground location in the outer sunset district of SF that would allow us to really put down roots. So at the end of 2019 we as a church took a leap of faith and moved from the mission district to the outer sunset where we now hold our services.
From the humble beginnings of a small bible study, to a beautiful church building with room to grow, we welcome you to join our story! Let’s continue this amazing journey remembering, "With God all things are possible!"
